The Gut Leidenhausen construction project (see the "Regionale 2010" portal) involves the conversion of part of the existing Gut Leidenhausen estate, which is located at the western boundary of the Wahn Heath natural area, near Cologne's Königsforst nature conservation area. The conversion will affect a section consisting of a threshing floor (floor of a barn) and a fronting building block. At present, that block contains a storage area (including a wood-storage area) and sanitary facilities.

The block has a ground floor and an unfitted/unfurnished roof-level floor. The threshing floor is to be developed into an exhibition area for the Regionale 2010 project, while the block's ground floor is to be converted for a range of new uses. Plans call for the ground floor to house a café + attached kitchen, a foyer, an office for the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (Naturschutzbund) conservation organization and a central heating system for the redesigned building section.

New sanitary facilities will be installed throughout. The exhibition areas will be fitted with a mechanical ventilation system. In addition, the building will be fitted with a low-temperature panel-type heating system, installed in the structure's walls, that will conform to criteria for the structure's historical-monument status.
