Services: Planning geothermal system
The Shanghai Tower, the second highest high-rise building in the world is being built in the Pudong District in Shanghai. ZWP was charged with the design of the building‘s geothermal system. Equipped with standard cooling machines and 400 energy piles the geothermal system is able to produce up to 700 kw of cold. The cold production is particularly efficient thanks to the recooling of the thermally activated energy piles. The heat that is stored in the ground during summer period is used in winter time in heat pump operation for the heating of partial areas of the high-rise building. ZWP carried out the design on site in cooperation with a local design team and in coordination with the building owner, architect and structural engineer.
